Pittsburgh 0-2 UConn; Notre Dame 3-0 Georgetown

UConn soccer helped their own cause this afternoon by defeating Pitt 2-0 on goals scored three minutes apart by Juho Karppinen. However, Georgetown was unable to secure at least a tie at Notre Dame, falling 3-0. The loss by Georgetown succumbs UConn (11-2-4, 5-1-3) to the #3 seed in the Big East Tournament. They will face the #6 seed from the Red Division, DePaul (4-9-5, 1-5-3), on Thursday night at Morrone Stadium.

Also, congratulations to UConn women’s soccer, who defeated Big East top seed Notre Dame 2-0 in South Bend this afternoon. The win snaps Notre Dame’s 77-game unbeaten streak against conference opponents, the longest such streak in any collegiate sport in history. The women advance to the semifinals of the tournament and will face West Virginia on Friday. Every team in the semifinals is from the American Division, with none of the five from the National Division advancing.
